Top 5 Benefits of Incorporating Humor into Your Programs

Curated Entertainment
There are many benefits of incorporating humor into your meeting or event. Today we are going to give you our Top 5.
1: Humor engages audiences and helps with recall. A client shared that her attendees remembered the content of her conference more than in previous years, because of the level of engagement and entertainment we brought to the program.
2: Humormakes for great transitions. We recently emceed a hybrid conference that included a physical activation. We had both live and virtual attendees doing “The Techie Stretch” together, with moves like, “The Tinder Swipe”, and the highly aerobic “Charge Your Laptop!”
3: Humor creates rapport and puts people at ease. They say people who laugh together, bond together and stay together. There really is nothing like sharing a laugh and getting to know others through a common ground, based in humor.
4:Humor triggers new connections in the brain. The right and left hemispheres sync up in new ways when we start to ‘think laterally’ — free associating into tangential topics, versus taking one line of thinking and not deviating from that topic.
5: Humor is a great equalizer that makes speakers and managers more relatable to the audience. CEOs love humorous anecdotes that ‘humanize’ them and make them more accessible. Herb Kelleher, a billionaire and CEO of Southwest Airlines, would show up at 2 AM to greet employee baggage handlers wearing a pink boa and joke around with them.
